Freshdesk Alternatives: Pricing, Freddy AI and 8 Options
Freshdesk alternatives compared: Freshdesk pricing, Freddy AI session costs and Omni plans vs Zendesk, Help Scout, Zoho Desk and flat-priced AI chat.

TL;DR. Freshdesk is a capable, fairly priced helpdesk, and for many teams the right alternative is not another helpdesk but a smaller tool. If you need email ticketing with SLAs and routing, Zendesk, Zoho Desk and Help Scout are the realistic swaps. If you mainly use Freshdesk to put an AI on your website, note that Freddy AI Agent gives you 500 free sessions once, then $49 per 100, and a flat AI chat widget may do that job for much less. Below: Freshdesk pricing as of October 2026 and eight alternatives with verified prices.
We make Feedbot, an AI chat widget with a light inbox for small teams. It is not a Freshdesk replacement for email-heavy support, and we say so where it matters.
Freshdesk pricing in 2026
Freshworks sells two related products. Freshdesk is the ticketing helpdesk. Freshdesk Omni adds chat, phone and other messaging channels. Both are priced per agent. From the official pages, as of October 2026:
| Plan | Freshdesk, annual (per agent/mo) | Freshdesk, monthly | Freshdesk Omni, annual | Highlights |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | $19 | $23 | $29 | Ticketing, shared inbox, customer portal, knowledge base, reporting |
| Pro | $55 | $66 | $79 | Multilingual helpdesk, custom dashboards, intelligent routing, multiple SLAs |
| Enterprise | $89 | $107 | $119 | Freddy AI Insights, skill-based routing, sandbox, audit logs |
Sources: Freshdesk pricing, Freshdesk Omni pricing. Annual billing saves about 20%. There’s no free plan listed; new accounts get a 14-day trial of Enterprise.
Add-ons on the Freshdesk page: day passes for occasional agents ($2, $7 or $12 per day depending on plan), connector app tasks ($80 per 5,000) and MCP actions ($15 per 1,000).
Freddy AI pricing
Freddy comes in two parts that are easy to confuse:
| Freddy product | What it does | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Freddy AI Agent | Answers customers on its own (email, chat) | 500 free sessions once per account, then $49 per 100 sessions |
| Freddy AI Copilot | Helps your agents draft, summarize and translate | $29 per agent/month annual, $35 monthly (Pro and Enterprise) |
| Freddy AI Insights | Proactive alerts and conversational reporting | Included in Enterprise |
Two details decide your bill:
- The 500 free sessions don’t renew. Freshworks’ FAQ says they’re limited to once per account. After that, every 100 sessions is $49, so about $0.49 per session.
- A session is a time window, not a resolution. For email, it’s a 72-hour window from the customer’s first email. For chat, it’s all interactions within 24 hours. You pay whether or not Freddy solves the problem, unlike Zendesk or Intercom, which charge only for resolutions.
So an AI that handles 500 conversations a month costs about $245 in sessions, on top of seats.
Why teams look for a Freshdesk alternative
- Chat costs more than you expect. Web chat and phone live in Omni, at $29 to $119 per agent instead of $19 to $89.
- The AI meter. After the free sessions, Freddy charges per session, even for chats that end up with a human.
- Too much helpdesk. Small teams often pay per agent for portals, SLAs and routing they never set up.
- Support quality and billing complaints. Reviews of Freshdesk mention slow vendor support and surprise price changes. Your experience may differ, but it’s a common thread.

Cost example: 3 agents, 500 AI-handled chats a month
| Tool | Monthly cost at list price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Freshdesk Growth (email, annual) | ~$302 | $57 seats + 5 session packs ($245) after the free 500 |
| Freshdesk Omni Growth (annual) | ~$332 | $87 seats + $245 sessions |
| Zendesk Suite Team (annual) | ~$893 | $165 seats + 485 resolutions × $1.50 committed |
| Help Scout Standard (monthly) | ~$450 | $75 seats + 500 × $0.75, if every chat counts as a resolution |
| Intercom Essential (annual) | ~$582 | $87 seats + 500 × $0.99 |
| Re:amaze Basic (monthly) | ~$499 | $87 seats + 485 × $0.85 (15 resolutions included) |
| Feedbot Pro | $19 | 1,000 conversations included, no seat fees |
The helpdesks include full email ticketing; Feedbot doesn’t, so this is a fair comparison only if website chat is the job you’re paying for. AI units also differ: Freshdesk bills sessions, most others bill resolutions, and Feedbot counts every conversation where the visitor writes something.
The 8 best Freshdesk alternatives
1. Feedbot (ours)
What it is. An AI chat widget that answers website and in-app visitors from your site, docs and FAQ, in their language. When it can’t help, it hands off: your team gets notified in Telegram, Slack, Discord or email and can reply live from Telegram or the dashboard inbox. If the visitor left, your reply goes by email. Refunds, cancellations and similar requests become tickets with priority, assignee and due date.
Pricing. Free: 50 conversations a month. Starter $5 (100 conversations, website import). Pro $19 (1,000 conversations, no branding, team members, API, webhooks). Business $49 (5,000). Extra +500 conversations for $10. No seats, no per-resolution or per-session fees. Pricing.
Choose it if your contacts arrive mostly through the website, you want the AI to answer first, and you’re a small team. Pair it with a plain shared mailbox for email.
Skip it if you need email ticketing, SLAs, phone, WhatsApp or a customer portal. Those aren’t built in.
2. Zendesk
What it is. The market leader: omnichannel ticketing, messaging, voice and a huge app marketplace.
Pricing. Support Team $19, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115 per agent per month billed annually ($25, $69 and $149 monthly). 5 to 10 AI resolutions per agent per month included, then $1.50 committed or $2.00 pay-as-you-go. Source: Zendesk pricing. More in Zendesk alternatives.
Choose it if you’re outgrowing Freshdesk on scale or integrations.
Drawbacks. More expensive per agent and per AI resolution.
3. Help Scout
What it is. A simple shared inbox with docs, live chat and social channels on paid plans.
Pricing. Free for 5 users and 100 contacts a month. Standard $25, Plus $45, Pro $75 per user per month (16% off yearly). AI Answers $0.75 per resolution, with a 3-month free trial. Source: Help Scout pricing.
Choose it if you find Freshdesk cluttered and your support is mostly email.
Drawbacks. Fewer routing and SLA options; Pro has a 10-user minimum.
4. Zoho Desk
What it is. The budget full helpdesk, with a free plan and deep Zoho integration.
Pricing. Free for 3 users. Express $7, Standard $14, Professional $23, Enterprise $40 per user per month billed annually. AI agents from Express (free token allowance or bring your own key), Zia AI from Professional, website live chat via SalesIQ on Enterprise. Source: Zoho Desk pricing.
Choose it if you want Freshdesk-level features for less.
Drawbacks. Takes time to configure; the interface is dense.
5. Intercom
What it is. A chat-first helpdesk with the Fin AI agent.
Pricing. $29, $85 and $132 per seat billed annually ($39, $99, $139 monthly). Fin $0.99 per outcome. Source: Intercom pricing. See also our Intercom pricing breakdown.
Choose it if chat is your main channel and you want a strong AI agent with a full helpdesk.
Drawbacks. Bills rise with seats and resolutions.
6. Front
What it is. A shared inbox with ticketing, built for teams that work like email.
Pricing. Starter $25 (one channel type, up to 10 seats), Professional $65, Enterprise $105 per seat billed annually. Autopilot from $0.05 per conversation; Copilot $20 per seat. Source: Front pricing.
Choose it if support, success and ops share inboxes.
Drawbacks. Omnichannel starts on Professional at $65 per seat.
7. Crisp
What it is. Live chat and a shared inbox, priced per workspace.
Pricing. Free (2 seats, no AI). Mini $45 (4 seats, around 90 automated conversations), Essentials $95 (10 seats, around 450), Plus $295 (around 1,350). Source: Crisp pricing.
Choose it if your team answers chat live and you want many seats for a flat fee.
Drawbacks. Heavy AI use needs a bigger plan.
8. Re:amaze
What it is. A helpdesk for small online stores with email, chat, social and an AI agent.
Pricing. Basic $29, Pro $49, Plus $69 per team member per month, with 5, 10 or 20 AI resolutions per user included and $0.85 per extra resolution. A $59 flat Starter plan covers unlimited team members up to 500 responded conversations a month. Source: Re:amaze pricing.
Choose it if you run a small store and want an inexpensive all-in-one.
Drawbacks. Smaller ecosystem than Freshdesk or Zendesk.
Who should stay on Freshdesk
- Email-heavy teams that use the portal and SLAs. At $19 per agent, Freshdesk Growth is one of the cheapest real helpdesks.
- Teams already on Freshworks CRM. The suite works best together.
- Low AI volume. If Freddy handles a few dozen sessions a month, the AI cost stays small.
How to pick
- Separate the jobs. Ticketing for email and phone is one job. Answering website visitors instantly is another. Many small teams pay a helpdesk for the second job only. A customer service automation setup explains how the two fit.
- Price the AI in your own units. Sessions (Freshdesk), resolutions (Zendesk, Help Scout, Intercom), automated interactions (Gorgias) or flat conversations (Feedbot, Crisp credits).
- Count seats honestly, including people who answer once a week.
- Run a trial on real questions before you migrate anything.
Migration notes
- Export tickets, contacts and solution articles from Freshdesk before your trial of a new tool ends. Most helpdesks offer import help for Freshdesk data.
- An AI chat tool doesn’t need your ticket history. Feedbot learns from your public site and help center on paid plans (knowledge base docs) and installs with one script tag (install guide).
- Recreate your top canned responses first. They cover most volume and double as AI training material.
