What you need
- A Feedbot bot. Create one free from your Wix site URL and copy the bot id from Dashboard → Bot → Install.
- A Wix site on a Premium plan, published, with a connected domain. Wix’s custom code guide lists the published site and connected domain as requirements, and a domain can only be connected on a Premium plan.
- Owner or admin access to the site dashboard.
The snippet:
<script src="https://w.feedbotai.com/v1/feedbot.js" data-bot-id="YOUR_BOT_ID" async></script>How to add a chatbot to Wix
- Open your site’s dashboard and go to Settings.
- Find and click Custom Code in the settings list.
- Click + Add Custom Code (top right).
- Paste the snippet into the code box.
- Name it, for example “Feedbot chat”.
- Under Add Code to Pages, choose All pages and select Load code once.
- Under Place Code in, choose Body - end.
- Click Apply.
- Open your live site (not the editor preview) in a private window and send a test message.
Custom code doesn’t run inside the Wix Editor or its preview, so always test on the published site.
Which load option to pick
| Option | What it does | Use it for Feedbot? |
|---|---|---|
| Load code once | Runs once per visit, when the visitor lands | Yes. The widget keeps itself loaded |
| Load code on each new page | Runs again on every page the visitor opens | Not needed, the loader only has to run once |
| Choose specific pages | Runs only on the pages you pick | Yes, if you want the bot on pricing or contact only |
Show it only on some pages
At step 6, pick Choose specific pages and select pages from the dropdown, for example Services, Pricing and Contact. To remove the bot from one page later, edit the snippet in Settings → Custom Code and untick that page.
If you want the chat embedded in a page section instead of a floating button, use inline mode with a container. On Wix that requires an embed element that renders a div with an id, which is fiddly; the floating button is the simpler choice.
Identify members
Feedbot verifies logged-in users with a hash computed on a server. Wix sites don’t give you a place to run that code without Velo backend work, so most Wix sites skip it. The bot still captures names and emails when visitors share them, and those show up in Leads.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| No chat button on the live site | Site has no connected domain or Premium plan | Upgrade and connect a domain, then republish |
| Button doesn’t show in the editor | Custom code never runs in the editor or preview | Test on the published URL |
| Two chat buttons | Wix Chat or another chat app is still on | Turn off Wix Chat or remove the other app |
Works on www, not on the bare domain (or reverse) |
Allowed domains lists the wrong host | List the main domain; subdomains are included automatically |
Train it on your site
Wix visitors usually ask about prices, availability, location, opening hours and how to book. On the Free plan, paste that information as text and FAQ. From Starter, import your site by URL or by its sitemap.xml, which Wix generates at /sitemap.xml for published sites. Put facts the bot needs in every conversation (hours, address, phone) in the business profile. See Knowledge base.
Wix Chat or an AI chatbot?
We make Feedbot, so here is an honest split. Wix Chat is free with your site and fine if you can watch the inbox during business hours. An AI chatbot earns its place when questions come in at night or repeat all day: it answers them, collects contact details, and pings you in Telegram, Slack, Discord or email when a visitor wants a person. Many small businesses keep it simple and use one or the other, not both. See Chatbot for small business for typical setups.
