TL;DR. tawk.to is free live chat with paid add-ons. As of October 2026, removing the “Powered by tawk.to” branding costs $39 a month ($348 a year), and the AI Assist chatbot runs from a free 100-message plan to $29, $99 or $399 a month. It’s hard to beat on price if people answer your chats. Teams switch when they want a more modern widget, AI that answers most questions without per-message credit math, or tighter sales and helpdesk features. Below: tawk.to pricing in full, how tawk compares with Tidio, Crisp and LiveChat, and seven alternatives with verified prices.

We make Feedbot, one of the tools below, so weigh that accordingly. We list it first and say where tawk.to or another tool fits better.

tawk.to pricing in October 2026

The software is free. Revenue comes from add-ons, each bought per property (per website), billed monthly or yearly. Figures from tawk.to’s add-on pricing guide and AI Assist billing guide, as of October 2026.

What you buy Monthly Yearly What you get
Live chat, ticketing, knowledge base, CRM $0 $0 Core product, no seat fees
Remove Branding $39 $348 ($29/mo) Your brand on the widget, emails, knowledge base and chat page
Video + Voice + Screensharing $49 $348 Calls and screen sharing from the widget
AI Assist Hobby $0 $0 100 AI message credits, 1 AI agent, up to 100 crawled pages
AI Assist Growth $29 $290 1,000 credits, 3 AI agents, 500 pages, escalation to humans
AI Assist Business $99 $990 5,000 credits, 5 AI agents, 2,000 pages
AI Assist Enterprise $399 $3,990 20,000 credits, 10 AI agents, 10,000 pages
Extra AI credits $30 per 1,000 Don’t expire
Hired chat agents From $1/hour $728/month for 24/7 coverage

How AI Assist credits work

One credit is one AI message. That includes AI replies to visitors and AI features your agents use (Smart Reply, AI Commands). A typical support chat has several AI replies, so if you assume 4 per conversation:

  • Hobby (100 credits) handles about 25 conversations a month.
  • Growth (1,000 credits) handles about 250.
  • Business (5,000 credits) handles about 1,250.

Note that escalation from AI to a human agent is listed from Growth, not on the free Hobby plan.

So the real price of “free tawk.to with AI and no branding” for a site with 250 AI chats is $29 + $39 = $68 a month, or $53 a month on yearly billing.

Why people look for a tawk.to alternative

  1. Branding. The free widget carries tawk.to branding, and removal costs more than many paid chat tools.
  2. AI on a per-message meter. Long conversations burn credits, which makes the bill hard to predict.
  3. The widget and dashboard feel dated next to Crisp, Tidio or Intercom. Third-party reviews also mention notification delays.
  4. Nobody can watch the chat. Free live chat is only free if someone answers. Small teams often want an AI to answer first.
  5. Per-property add-ons. Running three websites means buying add-ons three times.

Who should stay on tawk.to

Stay if several people answer chats and you don’t mind the branding, or you’re happy to pay $29 to $39 to remove it. No other tool gives unlimited human agents for $0. The hired agent option is also unusual: if you want people, not AI, answering around the clock, $1 an hour is cheap.

tawk vs Tidio, Crisp, LiveChat and Feedbot

“tawk vs” is one of the most common searches around this product. Here are the head-to-head answers in short.

tawk.to Tidio Crisp LiveChat (Text) Feedbot (ours)
Free plan Yes, no seat fees 50 human conversations, 10 seats 2 seats, no AI No, 14-day trial 50 conversations, AI included
Entry paid price $29 (AI) or $39 (branding) $29 $45 $25/user $5
AI billing Per AI message Per AI conversation (Lyro) Credits in plan Per AI resolution Per conversation, flat
Human live chat Full Full Full Full Takeover from Telegram or inbox

tawk.to vs Tidio. tawk.to wins on cost for human-answered chat. Tidio wins on polish, store integrations and automation (Flows), but its AI agent Lyro costs $39 to $700 a month for 50 to 1,000 AI conversations (Tidio pricing). Pick Tidio if you run a Shopify store and want order lookups; stay on tawk.to if you just need free chat.

tawk.to vs Crisp. Crisp is a cleaner shared inbox with WhatsApp, Instagram and SMS from its $95 Essentials plan, priced per workspace with seats included (Crisp pricing). tawk.to is free. Crisp is worth paying for when you have 3 to 10 agents on several channels.

tawk.to vs LiveChat. LiveChat costs $25 to $99 per user per month and includes AI resolutions plus strong sales tools such as proactive campaigns and cart recovery (LiveChat pricing). It’s the premium option; tawk.to is the free one. Choose LiveChat when chat drives revenue and you staff it.

tawk.to vs Feedbot. Different jobs. tawk.to is a human live chat with AI on top. Feedbot is an AI chatbot with a human on call: the AI answers, and when someone is needed you get a Telegram, Slack or email alert and can take over. If nobody on your team watches a chat window, Feedbot fits better.

tawk.to alternatives compared

Monthly prices as of October 2026 for a typical small site: about 250 chats a month that AI should answer, branding removed, 1 to 3 people. Credit-based tools assume 4 AI replies per chat.

Tool Price at that usage AI included Free plan Best for
Feedbot (ours) $19 (Pro: 1,000 conversations, no branding) Yes 50 conversations AI-first support and lead capture
tawk.to $68 (AI Assist Growth + Remove Branding) Add-on Yes Free human live chat
Crisp $95 (Essentials) Credits, ~450 conversations 2 seats, no AI Shared inbox, many channels
Tidio $210 to $239 (Lyro 300 tier, alone or with Starter) Lyro add-on 50 human conversations Online stores
LiveChat (Text) $99+ (1 Growth seat, 200 AI resolutions) Yes No Sales-led live chat
Chatwoot $19 to $57 + AI credits Captain credits 2 agents, 500 conversations Open source inbox
Zoho SalesIQ $20 to $60 (Enterprise, yearly) Answer Bot on Enterprise 3 operators Zoho CRM users
Intercom ~$153 (1 seat + ~125 outcomes) Fin, per outcome 14-day trial Full helpdesk

Tidio sells Lyro in fixed tiers, so 250 AI chats need the 300-conversation tier ($210), plus $29 if you also want Starter for the human inbox. Intercom assumes half of AI chats count as outcomes at $0.99, with one $29 seat.

The 7 best tawk.to alternatives

1. Feedbot (ours)

What it is. An AI chatbot for websites and apps. It answers from your website, docs and FAQ in the visitor’s language, asks your qualifying questions, captures leads and turns bugs and complaints into grouped issues.

Pricing. Free: 50 conversations a month (knowledge from your own text and FAQ). Starter $5: 100 conversations, website import. Pro $19: 1,000 conversations, no branding, team members, webhooks, API. Business $49: 5,000 conversations. +500 conversations for $10. No credit math per message: a conversation counts once, however many replies it has. See pricing.

Pros. Flat and predictable. Branding removal is part of a $19 plan, not a $39 add-on. Handoff works from your phone: you get the chat in Telegram and reply there (handoff docs). Works without a website through a hosted chat link.

How to choose

  1. Decide who answers first: people or AI. People first: stay on tawk.to, or move to Crisp or Chatwoot for a better inbox. AI first: Feedbot, or tawk.to AI Assist if you can live with message credits.
  2. Price the full bill. On tawk.to, add branding, AI and any per-property add-ons. On per-seat tools, multiply by every agent.
  3. Check the channels you need. WhatsApp and Instagram: Crisp Essentials, Chatwoot, Zoho SalesIQ, or tawk.to itself.
  4. Test for a week on your real site. Every tool here has a free plan or trial.

Moving off tawk.to

  • Export chat history and contacts from the tawk.to dashboard before you remove the widget.
  • Copy your tawk.to knowledge base articles or point the new tool at their URLs. In Feedbot, website import starts on Starter (knowledge base docs).
  • Replace the tawk.to script with the new snippet. Feedbot is one script tag, a GTM tag or a React component (install guide).
  • Cancel add-ons per property, since tawk.to bills each website separately.
